Writing My Nutrition Thoughts

I'm writing down for the first time, my nutrition thought out of many 🤔. Well, this goes on every day since I'm a mom, a wife, a nutrition content writer, a nutrition coach, and an advocate of health vs. my emotional-eating-self.

Let me ponder that last part. Honestly, I'm thinking of a baked pastry right now. I'm not saying that there are "bad" foods such as that. But recalling that I have had two family gatherings in a row, I must say that indulging in this craving right now could be just because I am tired physically (despite just being Tuesday today).

Mindfulness—it's something I have talked about with my patients consistently. Although I remind them that having to join such occasions wouldn't ruin the health journey, it's still best to be on top of the game. What does that exactly mean? If you are a competitive type of person, then use this opportunity to use this mindset. Compete with yourself. Compete with the thought that giving in to this craving, after being lenient the past 2 days, could end up detaching you from your health goal. And consequently, become a building block of non-communicable chronic lifestyle diseases.

The mindfulness and the grit to be in good shape in retirement years have been so far working for me in achieving my consistent intake of not more than 1500 kcal intake per day. Don't get me wrong. Calorie counting has been believed to make people feel restricted. But for me, it helps me stay grounded.

Some people will think that, it's okay to overeat since everybody does it. Health consequences doesn't come overnight, the same way health benefits does. Hence, health and nutrition is an investment. It takes time, patience, consistency and faith.

I don't really do this just because I am a Dietitian, a nutrition professional. I find myself leaning to this because: I still want to travel the world, make new friends from new destinations, watch my child sing for the world, and build better memories. Whenever I got reminded that age reduces the possibilities of making these happen, just as how I see this from some, it holds me back to this grit.

Therefore, enjoy today with mindfulness so as to enjoy the world more tomorrow because the best is yet to come.

Keep slaying! Stay nutritiously healthy!
